How we make our Chesterfield furniture

We invite you to take a look at our furniture making process so you can understand all that is involved before you make your purchase. Here you can find out what leather we use, what sofabed mechanism is utilized, the frame making process and the difference in quality between ourselves and other  manufacturers.

 Our leather
We use only High Grade “A” European Leather which is more grainy, more durable and more subtle as it is taken from the middle more protected hides and lower layers as opposed to top poorer layers

Our Competitors Leather
RSA (Regular South American) lower grade leather, similar to “split” leather. Lots of scars, brand marks, holes, taken from the top layers and underbelly.

Our frame process
Our sofa and chair frames are individually handmade using solid hardwood. They are screwed, glued and jointed by hand to a bevelled finish.

Our Competitors frame process
Cheaper versions are made from pinewood, chipboard or reclaimed wood such as old pallets etc.

Quality
Our Chesterfield settees have four rows of buttons as opposed to the cheaper ones with only three. This means we use more leather to accommodate the extra buttons.

Colour process
Our leather goes through the tannery process where it is coloured with a black topping coat and then made to look aged by craftsmen by using special finishing chemicals and then sealed off.

Our Chesterfield sofa beds
We only use the finest quality “roll out” bed mechanisms in all of our sofa beds, designed for daily use.

Our Competitors sofa beds
Cheaper less durable bed mechanisms usually made in the far east or eastern block countries which are not sturdy or hard wearing.
